Your hearts desire….

Tonight I read two passages that caught my eye and spoke to my heart. 

“….But those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.” - Romans 8:5b

The second verse comes from the Psalmist himself David.

“Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.”

- Psalm 37:4

So my thought is this….If we live in accordance to the Spirit and our desires become what the Spirit of God desires, then the desires of our heart are then from God and about God.  If then, they are God breathed they are also pure and right.  A pure and healthy heart creates pure and healthy desires and is dedicated and committed to God’s will.   A pure heart comes from surrendering to God’s love for you and to His work with in us. Entrust God with everything you have and all that you are and He will provide the unknown desires your heart contains.  Because with God providing the desires of your heart, the worldly desires have no appeal. Rotten fruit only leads to a sour stomach, but healthy fruit provides strength and encouragement.

 I want to challenge you to take a moment and examine your heart.  Is it in God’s hands.  Are you letting Him protect it and cultivate it?  Do you have the right mindset in your faith and where your heart is?  God is the aultimate provider of all things, with out Him we can’t survive this world.  With out Him we have no light to our path.  With out Him all we have is the world and what is in it, which only leads to a life with out purpose.  Our hearts desire is fulfilled when we delight in the Lord! Praise God for His love! 

 ”Trust in the Lord, with all your HEART and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” -Proverbs 3:5-6

 “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”
                                       -Philipians 4:8

 “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.”
                                       -Colosians 4:2
