I was inspired this past Sunday by this song. I wasn’t having the best morning, but reading these lyrics helped cheer me up and refocused my thoughts. I pray that the song as well as the many verses inspire and encourage you. God Bless!
“I have decided to follow Jesus”
“I have decided to follow Jesus;
I have decided to follow Jesus,
I have decided to follow Jesus;
No turning back, no turning back.”
“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”
Colossians 2:6-7
“But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with on another and the blood of Jesus, His son, purifies us from all sin.”
1 John 1:7
“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loves me and gave Himself for me.”
Galatians 2:20
Not turning back….no turning back. Our commitment to Christ is eternal, and it is not to be taken lightly. We serve Him forever and for His eternal Glory. We walk in His way, not our own and in Him we should find our true source of life and purpose.
“Tho’ none go with me, I still will follow;
Tho’ none go with me, I still will follow,
Tho’ none go with me, I still will follow;
No turning back, No turning back.”
“All men will hate you because of Me, but He who stands firm to the end will be saved”
Mathew 10:22
“Blessed is the man who does not fall away on account of Me.”
Mathew 11:6
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and staff, they comfort me.”
Psalm 23:4
“But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before me Father in Heaven.”
Mathew 10:35
“My soul finds rest in God “alone”;
My salvation comes from Him.
He “alone” is my rock and my salvation
; He is my fortress, I will never be shaken
Psalm 62:1-2
Even though we may sometime be alone in our walk with Jesus, we have to brace ourselves and continue follow Jesus. We are never alone with Him in our heart, mind and soul. We can’t turn back on Him or deny Him, or He will turn His back on us and deny us. He is our Rock and our fortress what things do we need to fear? What do we look for, for satisfaction? God alone should be our one and only source of true satisfaction and He alone should fill our cup to run over.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Romans 15:13
“My cross I’ll carry till I see Jesus;
My cross I’ll carry till I see Jesus,
My cross I’ll carry till I see Jesus;
No turning back, no turning back.”
“If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die we die to the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.”
Romans 14:8
“For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”
Philippians 1:21
“Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ.”
2 Timothy 2:3
“Then He said to them all: “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”
Luke 9:23
“Brothers, each man, as responsible to God, should remain in the situation God called him to.”
1 Corinthians 7:24
We don’t get days off, we follow Jesus 24/7, both holidays and weekends. We can’t ever put our cross down and we have to do our best to keep our foothold in Jesus. He alone will be our refuge and shield in time of need. We carry our cross till we see Jesus…..
“The world behind me, the cross before me;
The world behind me, the cross before me,
The world behind me, the cross before me;
No turning back, no turning back.”
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
2 Timothy 4:7
“Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
Hebrews 4:16
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds…”
James 1:2
“Do not love the world or anything in the world.”
1 John 2:15
“He must turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.”
1 Peter 3:11 and Psalms 34:14
This world is not what we should be striving towards; it should not be our focus. The world should be to our back and God should be our direction and point of concentration. We can’t look back; the world will only tempt us. “No turning back….no turning back”….
Have you decided to follow Jesus….and are you following Him? Don’t turn back in your walk….don’t ever turn back! Keep your face and heart focused on the God!
I love love love Phillipians 1:21. It is so good! I am reading this book currently called Don’t Waste Your Life and it has that verse in the book. That verse really makes me think that death is something everyone seems so afraid of but if we have Christ working in our lives than that is such a huge gain. A gain that can bring you more joy and happiness then you could ever imagine. God Bless,
Kate
Thank you so much Skylar… I was actually going to email you asking the name of that song because it really spoke to me on Sunday too. So thank you for giving us your thoughts on it.
